Santa Pod FIA European Finals
We came to Santa Pod with hope still for a run for the title, the scenario was that we needed to win and set low ET of the event, but also have Åhlund loosing first round and see Nixon going out in Semi-finals.
So it was not realistic as Mr Åhlund seldom makes mistakes, and this race was not different. conditions could have been better, it rained all day Friday and Saturday which ruined our game plan totally. We had decided to run our new carburettors as we know we are down on high-end power with the ones on the engine, but we needed to test the new ones to get them dialled in otherwise they could hurt instead of help. It all came down to one qualifying run on late Sunday and 1 hour after that first round of eliminations on a very tricky cold track. We had to go for a safe set up to secure to be in the 8-car ladder, after a long discussion together with Crew Chief Anders Wall and rest off crew we decided to be on the soft side to make a safe run. It turned out to be a good call and we where second fastest with 6.86 with Åhlund on nr 1 spot with 6.84. We took an easy first round win over Jan Palmquist with a 6,84 against Palmquist 6.98. Åhlund did his homework and the chance for us was gone, he ran 6.83 and other the other side off the ladder we had Nixon Sundblom that only run 6.90 same as in qualifying so we felt we had him covered as we had too race him in the Semi-finals. First semi-final was Åhlund against Magnus Hanson, but Hanson took a chance and red lighted with personal best 6.88 against Åhlunds 6.82. Then it was us and I felt pretty good about the situation, we had a fast car and we had tightened the clutch to get the car up on the tire faster as our 60ft time was off compare to Åhlund and Sundblom, we had about same reaction time, but Nixon did his best run of course off the weekend and run 6.80 against mine 6.84 again. This was hard for us as a win against Sundblom and then a win in the final we would ended up as runner up in the Championship, but the Finals never took place due to new heavy rain, so it didn’t matter.
We didn’t loose the Championship at this race we lost it already at Alastaro Finland where the promoter made a big mistake and let Pro Stock cars run right after Top Fuel cars without cleaning the track, and everybody knows how much clutch dust there is from a Top Fuel car, so track was very slippery and all cars in left lane had to lift as they lost traction totally, and we had the left lane and we were the first car out so we never had a chance to change lane which we could as we had low ET. This really cost us the point’s needed to stay near the top. So we have to start with same number on car as in 2008 and we will for sure fight even harder in 2009 to end up at a higher spot the in 2008. And this hard work has already started with some more testing at Meca Raceway with our new Braswell carburettors and right away we ran a personal best on the 1/8mile and numbers were very promising and it did give us good hope and steam for all at Malmgren racing Team.
So you can for sure put us on the contender list for the 2009 Championship Title!
First FIA round at Santa pod and we got the new FIA European record with a 6,83 in the first round that we backed up with 6,80, even more stunning considering that the second fastest was 6,86.
Our new Bickel built GTO seems to work extremely well and is very fast to 60ft, also the new power plant from Bob Ingles is stronger that we could ever have hoped for.
Also a big thanks this weekend to our Super adviser Marcus Bowen from the USA (he has over 10 years of full time Pro stock experience and has been crew chief for Mark Pawuk for 8 years) he came in from USA this week to help fine-tune the Lahéga Pro stock car together with Crew Chief Anders Wall.
Sadly the bad weather stopped all that and all he could experience was the 2 good runs on Qualifying on Friday, but still he had a lot off good input for us.
Due to the rain no eliminations took place, but we did go back home as FIA points leaders as low Qualifier and Low ET, cant ask for more considering last year we went home with a crashed car and 0 points.

Alastaro report
Again we managed to squeeze out the best performance and took the pole position with a 6,92-201, after struggling in the first qualifying session with bad traction on the very slippery track, cold weather and a lot of rain was against us the whole weekend.
Still late Sunday the first elimination round could take place and we were up against Peter Emilsson and with a better reaction time and a very good 60ft we had him covered, but in high gear I had to lift as the car went totally loose, it started already a little in 3:rd and I tried to back peddle it but it got worse and to avoid a crash I lifted, lucky for me Emilsson was facing the same problems but already in 2:nd gear and we cruised down the track with a safe win running a 7.35 sec, then more rain came again and that was it.
Next stop is Mantorp Sweden and just let s pray for better weather.
But the good thing is we are still in good points lead

Malmgren Racing gets more product sponsors lined up as result off good meetings at PRI
We are very happy to have PPP onboard, Precision Products Performance centre, they will supply special wristpins coated by one of our other sponsor Oerlikon Balzers, to be used in all of our engines. PPP is a specialist in valve train components all except valve springs, they also stock many different Wiseco pistons (Wiseco is also a sponsor off Malmgren Racing) and are very big on Pro lifters for NEXTEL Cup etc.
Also Michael has signed a deal with PSI valve springs and we are happy to inform everyone that we will stock most popular springs from 1248 to 1262ML. The valve springs will be in our trailer at all FIA races, pricing will be the same that you pay in US (racers net), so our idea is that we are going to have such good pricing so even if you buy in US and bring it home in suitcase we can compete with that.
We are still in discussion with some more associated sponsors and also some major deals to be announced soon.

Malmgren Racing at Race Rock
Michael Malmgren has worked successfully for several years with a group of about 20 USA Performance parts manufacturers that support the team with products and research and development.
This support has been very crucial for our success at testing and races, to be able to use the best products possible and to get info and RND help with the latest technology.
Some manufacturers have supported me ever since I started with Pro stock, companies like Strange engineering and MSD for example, which we are very proud off.
Obviously we are doing our homework as they continue the support us every year. At this year PRI we have also signed some new deals that will be announced shortly.
For complete list off USA Performance parts manufacturers that support our team see www.malmgrenracing.com

Malmgren Number one again!
The game of All-Time FIA Points Tennis between Michael Malmgren and Micke Kågered continues, with Michael taking back the #1 all-time spot at the end of 2006 after Micke held it in 2004 and 2005. Although he may have lost the #1 all-time spot this year, Micke has been in the top three all-time FIA points scorers since the FIA European Championships started in 1996. Congratulations, therefore, to both Michael and Micke. Also of note is that Peter Schöfer has moved up from #6 to #5 in the all-time FIA standings and that Ulf Leanders has moved up from #10 to #9.

The FIA Record holding Grand AM has been sold to new Pro stock Team Jonas Dantanus and the official delivery took place at the Bilsport Performance show in Stockholm on 24-26 November.
We wish them the best of luck during 2007 and down the road they will be a player, they have the well-known Christer Gustavsson as there Crew Chief and he has a lot of experience in Pro Stock, he was also successfully the Crew Chief for my team between 1993-2001.
They will start off with one of my first pro stock engines built by Bob Ingles with 7.10 performance to enable them to learn the game, the car and get his licence etc.
For 2008 I think they will be a top player when more power is added, this car we all know can run mid 6.8’s.
We can also announce that a new GTO has been ordered from Jerry Bickel race cars and that we will test a lot in Florida USmid March-07 and also attend the Gatornationals.
Jerry Bickel is a good friend to our team and I know him very well and he has always delivered on time, and his cars are known as the fastest Pro Stockers on the market.
Stay tuned for more details, photos and info
